Harkham Winery is an award winning winery, producing a diverse range of wines from hand picked and sorted fruit. The estate was established in 1985 and the Harkham family took over in 2005. Since then they have upgraded the facilities and changed the winemaking philosophy.
The winery is focusing on small batches of fruit, selected predominately from hillside vineyards in the Hunter Valley. Minimal handling, bottling without fining or filtration, only the use of French oak and no, or low levels of preservatives are just some of the techniques used in the pursuit of maximum grape to bottle flavour transfer.
The recently released range of 2009 wine’s include an Unfiltered Reserve Shiraz and the Hunter Valley’s first Preservative Free wine – Aziza’s Shiraz. Richard Harkham, managing winemaker also produces the preservative free beer called “Skinny Blonde”.
